Providing support for Mammoth Mountain Ski and Snowboard Teams is a founding goal for MMCF. Introducing children to snow sports and assuring access to Mammoth Mountain for students in the Eastern Sierra is an important part of our mission, too.
Mammoth Ski and Snowboard Team Headquarters
Thanks to the support of Mammoth Invitational donors and attendees over the last three years, the teams and MMCF now have a home on the hill, taking a huge step forward in realizing our dream for a world-class training facility for Mammoth’s athletes. MMCF has funded a comprehensive renovation of the Slopeside Center at Mammoth Mountain’s Main Lodge, which includes a multi-purpose room for slopeside conditioning and team events, study and competition recovery areas, plus new offices for team staff and MMCF.
School Snow Programs
MMCF wants all children in the Eastern Sierra to experience snow sports. School programs introduce snow sports to many local kids. In partnership with Mammoth Mountain Ski Area, MMCF is working to assure that school programs continue to provide low-cost access to rental gear, lift passes and coaching. In 2013, MMCF supported Lee Vining Elementary School’s ski p.e. program.
Summer Training Program
Partnering with Sierra Cycling Foundation and Footloose Sports, MMCF purchased road bikes for team athletes to use for summer training. A group of a dozen-plus snowboarders and Nordic and alpine skiers train on the bikes with their coaches and complete 50 miles at the High Sierra Fall Century, an event that benefits MMCF.
Scholarships + Awards
MMCF proudly continues the traditions of the Mammoth Ski and Snowboard Education Foundation through awards and scholarships for young athletes. In 2013, MMCF partnered with the Kelly Clark Foundation on a new scholarship for student athletes training and competing on the Mammoth Snowboard Team.
