Education is a cornerstone program for MMCF. Since 2010, MMCF has committed over $1.3 million to Mammoth Unified School District. These monies come directly from Mammoth Mountain Ski Area through the season pass-holder opt-in program, Mammoth Black Pass sales, mountain lodging opt-out programs, and through a donation from MMSA’s credit card processor, FirstData/Ignite Payments. Working together, MMCF and the Mammoth Schools NOW Education Foundation have funded programs, positions and technology that raise the level of excellence in Mammoth’s schools.
The Flexible Learning Center at Mammoth High School
We are proud to support programs that give the academic rigor and flexibility that student athletes need to thrive on snow and in school through a trailblazing partnership with Mammoth Unified School District. The Flexible Learning Center (FLEX) at Mammoth High School combines online coursework with credentialed classroom teaching and to offer a unique blended learning environment.
Teachers and coaches collaborate to create individual learning and training plans that meet students’ academic needs and athletic dreams.
Student athletes must enroll at Mammoth High School and apply to enter the FLEX.

The MMCF Winter Tutorial is a flexible, private tutoring program available to student-athletes not enrolled in Mammoth schools. Using curriculum provided by the student-athlete’s school, Winter Tutorial allows student-athletes to stay focused on academics while training on the Mammoth Ski and Snowboard Teams. Winter Tutorial welcomes student-athletes in ninth through twelfth grades and will consider middle school students as well. The program is dedicated to helping each student achieve his/her academic and athletic potential and goals while improving time-management and organizational skills. It welcomes students from around the country and world and fosters a rigorous academic environment. Winter Tutorial operates from November through April with different lengths of participation depending on the student-athlete’s needs.
Winter Tutorial students follow a set schedule of on-mountain training and in-class time. At school, students work independently with supervision and guidance from credentialed teachers and experienced tutors at a low student-teacher ratio. Winter tutorial students bring curriculum from their school of origin. Detailed communication between MMCF tutors and teachers and counselors at the student’s home school helps determine the content covered and the support needed while in Mammoth.
